Bob Spalholz - Head Coach Varsity
Bob began playing lacrosse at Cold Spring Harbor H.S., Long Island, N.Y. graduating in 1969. He continued playing at Ithaca College in upstate New York. After moving to San Francisco in 1975, he played attack for the San Francisco Lacrosse Club until 1989. During his time with SF Lacrosse Club, they won NCLA Championships, State Championships and the Western States Tournament.
Ted Logan - Head Coach U15
Ted is a native of Annapolis, where he grew up playing lacrosse throughout childhood and in high school, which instilled a lifelong love of athletics and the sport of lacrosse. He spent a number of years racing bicycles competitively across the U.S. and won many medals including the Gold in the overall U.S. Collegiate National Track Championships in 1987. Eventually he settled in Phoenix to attend Arizona State University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture. He played lacrosse on ASU’s club team. Now a designer and builder in the Bay Area and the owner/founder of Logan Design & Construction, he is a coach on his older son"s lacrosse team. In 2007, the Outlaws won Northern California State Championships in the pups C division.
Mike Gaudio - Assistant Coach U15
Mike grew up in Connecticut where he started playing lacrosse at the age of five and continued through high school. A High School All-American, Mike continued his lacrosse career at Princeton University where he helped the Tigers earn a Final Four berth and three Ivy League Championships. At Princeton, Mike was fortunate enough to play both defensive and offensive midfielder and thus learn both sides of the game from two of the best coaches in lacrosse. His passion for coaching and involvement in the growth of youth lacrosse started in high school, continued through his college years and beyond, as a history teacher and Varsity lacrosse coach at the Pennington School in Pennington, New Jersey. A recent transplant to the West coast, Mike lives in San Francisco and works for Salesforce.com. He could not be happier continuing his lacrosse career in California as a member of the Marin Lacrosse Team and Assistant Coach to the Outlaws U15 team.
Rob Hurlbut - Head Coach U13
In addition to work and his family, Rob has a passion for sports and he counts himself fortunate to be able to coach on a part time basis. Rob grew up in the Boston area playing soccer, hockey and lacrosse, but when push came to shove, Lax was his love. Rob graduated from Harvard in 1986 where he played midfield for four years. Upon his move to SF, he coached at SI during the inaugural seasons of their lax program and is thrilled to see the development of the sport here over the last 20+ years.
Charles Fountaine - Assistant Coach U13
Charles was born and raised on Long Island where he grew up playing lacrosse. He attended Chaminade High School and played football and lacrosse there for 4 years. Charles graduated from the University of Richmond in 2005 where he played club lacrosse. He moved out to San Francisco shortly after graduating and played midfield for the Barbary Coast Lacrosse Club. For 3 years, Charles was head coach of Marin Catholic High School’s Junior Varsity lacrosse team. He resides in San Francisco and is an Institutional Sales Trader at JonesTrading.
Taylor Reed - Head Coach U11
Taylor grew up in Princeton NJ and played lacrosse for Princeton Day School, before going to The Canterbury School, where he played midfield for all four years. In his senior year, his team won the Division Championship. Taylor attended Villanova University, graduating in 1992. He lived in NY for 10 years before moving to San Francisco for a job at the Royal Bank of Canada in 2002. His son became interested in the game early on from watching many friends play for Marin and the Olympic Club. Taylor signed him up, volunteered to help out, and soon was given the coaching job. "I found that I loved working with the kids on all of the fundamentals of lacrosse as well as the mentality of being a sportsman. I am very excited about returning for my fourth year of coaching."
Dan Lockwood - Assistant Coach U11
This is Dan's third year coaching for SF City Lacrosse Club. Dan has coached both the U9 and U11 teams during his tenure with SF City. Dan was raised in Pittsford, NY, a suburb of Rochester, where he picked up lacrosse in the 8th grade. He played both midfield and attack, and earned a spot on the All-County team his senior year. He then played club lacrosse at Princeton University, graduating in 1989 with a degree in computer science. Dan's oldest son plays on the U11 squad, and he hopes his daughter and younger son will pick up the sport in coming years. Outside of coaching lacrosse, Dan keeps active and in shape by mountain biking, surfing, kite surfing, and playing roller hockey.
As a Baltimore native, George's passion for lacrosse runs deep. He started playing in 4th grade and continued to play through his middle school and high school years at St. Paul’s School for Boys in Brooklandville, Maryland. He played four years as defenseman at Brown University, graduating in 1991. Following college, he played for the South Bay Lacrosse Club in Los Angeles for five years. He was a founding member of The Olympic Club lacrosse team, which has won multiple state championships; for twelve years he's been a starting defenseman. George enjoys coaching kids and also coaches his younger son’s YMCA basketball team. He looks forward to sharing his love of lacrosse with the U9 team next spring. George is Director of Institutional Equity Sales with Citigroup and enjoys surfing, squash, golfing, running and open-water swimming in his spare time.
Hilary Lynch - Co-Coach U11
Hilary is a 2007 graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. While at Cal, Hilary was a four year starter and a two-time captain for the Bears, and the anchor of the defense from the goalkeeping position. She was also elected to represent the lacrosse team on the Student Advisory Committee to build communication in reviewing NCAA guidelines and providing feedback on proposed changes. Hilary traveled to Japan for two weeks, after her freshman year of college, to play in the International Friendship games.
A native of Massachusetts, Hilary has remained in the Bay Area since graduating from Cal and is currently working in San Francisco. She majored in Sociology, with a minor in Spanish, and traveled to Spain during the summer of 2005 to study abroad. Hilary is currently the director for Bear Lax Marin, a club team for high school and middle school girls looking to take their game to the next level.
Katie Moran - Co-Coach U11
Katie is a Bay Area native. She attended St. Ignatius College Prep, where she played lacrosse for four years. Under great coaches, Katie grew to be a stand-out defender, three-time captain, and three-year Varsity player. Katie then went to U.C. Santa Barbara, a competitive club team in Southern California where she moved to the midfield and was named her team’s Rookie of the Year in 2006, All-League in 2007, 1st Team All-American in 2008, National Player of the Year and All-American in 2009. Her team finished third in the nation in 2009.
Katie graduated from UCSB with highest honors and was selected by Teach for America. As a Teach for America Corps Member, Katie now teaches a Special Day Class at Balboa High School, where she teaches Environmental Science, Math, and English to 9th grade students with special needs. Katie, eager to continue her lacrosse career, contacted City Lacrosse and could not wait to begin coaching other girls and showing them the sport that made her who she is today. She hopes to instill fundamentals and a love of the game in her first season as a coach.
